Sakleshpur, a taluk in Hassan district, Karnataka, is part of the Western Ghats, also known as Malnad. With a temperate climate, it is surrounded by villages that cultivate coffee, cardamom, and pepper, which are brought to Sakleshpur for trade. The town lies along National Highway 48 (NH-48) and is uniquely connected by rail, linking Mangalore and Bangalore.
One of the main attractions is the Manjarabad Fort, located just outside Sakleshpur along NH-48. Built by Tippu Sultan, this fort served as a strategic defense post, overseeing the approach to the plateau beyond Sakleshpur from the coast. It is also believed that a tunnel once connected the fort to Srirangapatna near Mysore.
